About the App
Aquero is a prayer companion built for anyone with a devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes, an interest in Saint Bernadette, or a desire to grow closer to Christ through his Mother. It is for the pilgrim at the grotto. It is also for the pilgrim who will never leave home. There is no spiritual difference between the two. God is not bound by geography. Mary appeared at what was, at the time, the town’s garbage dump, to a sick and unschooled girl. Grace travels.
What the app is built around
Lourdes holds three threads: the sick, the water, and the apparition. None is greater than the others. All three shape the experience of Aquero.
What you can expect
A simple, prayerful experience. No streaks. No psychological manipulation. No notifications designed to keep you opening the app against your will.
No ads. No data sale. No third-party tracking by default. Account-free wherever possible. Offline-aligned wherever possible.
A way to keep Mary close on the road, on the way to the doctor, in the waiting room, in your kitchen, at the grotto. Another piece of a spiritual tool belt many Catholics already carry.
What the app does not do
Aquero does not replace what Christians require to grow in closeness with Jesus Christ. It supports it.
What the app costs
Nothing. The app is free. There are no paid tiers and no feature gates inside the app. There are no plans to add any.
If you want to support the work, see the support page.
Where the name comes from
Aqueró is a Bigourdan-dialect Occitan word meaning “that one.” It is what Saint Bernadette called the figure at the grotto before she knew it was the Mother of God. The name reflects the first encounter. It is for anyone in that place.
